Experience para ice hockey
Being invented in 1960's in Sweden, sledge hockey has become a paralympic sport since 1994 Winter Paralympic Games.
The Sledge Hockey game offers to experience of sliding on ice with a paralympic sledge, and shooting the puck with a paralympic hockey stick, to beat a robot goal keeper.
-Control the direction of the sledge by tilting your head
-A Bluetooth controller required to shoot the puck
-Well-optimized charming graphics
-Play individually against a robot goalkeeper
-Another robot guides you throughout gameplay and act as a referee.
The Sledge Hockey game is developed as a part of the VR4Inclusion project funded by Erasmus+. The project aims to provide social and physical inclusion of youth with disabilities, by using virtual reality.
As well as young people physical disabilities, many non-disabled players also enjoyed the game during the play-testing events.
Controls
Steer your sledge by tilting your head left or right. Look towards the goal to aim and press any key on your Bluetooth controller to shoot the puck.
Requirements
The game is designed to be played on any mobile device attached to a cardboard type VR headset. A Bluetooth controller of any brand or make is required to shoot the puck.
VR4Inclusion
The project "Social and Physical Inclusion of Paraplegic Youth by Using Virtual Reality", shortly VR4Inclusion, aims to empower young people with disabilities both socially and physically.
Three VR paralympic sport games Handcycling, Boccia and Sledge Hockeywere produced by Bahcesehir University BUG Lab in Istanbul, Turkey. The game titles were selected based on the focus groups and interviews with young people with disabilities. Those meetings were conducted with the support of, Tyrtaois Sports Club in Athens, International Association of Spinal Cord Paralysis in Ankara and Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, in coordination of Bahcesehir University Faculty of Educational Sciences and KIO.
Play testing was conducted as a part of a social inclusion event in Istanbul, in which disabled young people participated as well as non-disabled people, who got together to play the games and share their opinions.
The VR4Inclusion project is funded by the Erasmus+ Program of the European Union.
